This paper aims to analyze the translation strategies of Xi Jinping's Second volume on the Governance of China from the perspective of functional equivalence theory. This book contains a large number of English translations of political terms with Chinese characteristics, which is a very good reference model for Chinese-English translation learners to explore and summarize many translation strategies of political terms, which is of great significance to the construction of China's foreign discourse system.This paper intends to adopt the following research methods. The first is literature research. After I decided what I wanted to study, I read a lot of journal literature, doctoral and master's theses, and carefully read the English translation of Xi Jinping on The Governance of China. Then induction, I will summarize the main points of reference and functional equivalence theory in order to better explore the translation strategies of political terms. Finally, I will use the comparative method to find out the differences between the translation of political terms and other texts, so as to better understand the translation methods of political terms.
